We camped 11 nights at the Camping municipal de Pont-en-Royans "Les Seraines" in Pont-en-Royans.  Cost per night for Ceri-Siân and I using separate tents was €10:40.

The campsite was on the banks of the river la Bourne.  This is a view looking west away from the village.

There were two ways to walk into the village, along the road, or along the river, which was the nicer option.

Ceri-Siân's feet have turned into a pot of gold!   A rainbow in spray of Le Musée de l'Eau.

PS who needs a pot of gold when we got Ceri!

The narrow streets of Pont-en-Royans.  These streets were busy at times with cars and lorries trying to squeeze through.

The river enters a narrow gorge at the end of the village, at which point the river is bridged, the width of the gorge at that point being that of the bridge arch. The view to the right shows how the gorge opens out a bit as the river heads upstream.

View of Pont-en-Royans showing how the village is built up on the slopes of the Vercors.  Note how to the left there is no hill illustrating the north south cliff effect of the Vercors at this point.  The min height for Pont-en-Royans is given as 188m, the maximum height as 788m, in an area of 2.9sqkm.

We spent a pleasant last evening chatting to a Dutch couple who were camped on the river bank.  As we looked east to the Vercors, we were treated to a spectacular light display as the sun cast its final rays of the day on to the limestone cliffs.
