The Suffolk Section of the Tandem Club has organised a camping weekend at Blaxhall Village Hall for the last 14 years.  We have been every year since 1996 except 98, which we only missed as we were planning routes for our first family tandem weekend.

Where shall we go today?  The nice thing about Blaxhall is that it is very informal with most people doing their own rides.

The other triplet present.  The Rowe family also towed a trailer for the youngest at the weekend.

Now that Ceri-Siân is bigger she wants to ride half-bike rather then push me on tandem.  So this year we took a car assisted ride from Southwold which is further up the coast.  From there we started our ride by taking the ferry across the River Blyth.

The coastal part of Suffolk has very sandy soils, which give rise to some nice bridleways and byways.  This is the byway across Walderswick Nature Reserve, with Ceri-Siân taking care not to go sliding.

Southwold Pier.  The day started overcast, but the time we got back to Southwold, having ridden along the south side of the Blyth and then North to Brampton, it was nice and sunny.  Just right for a day on the beach if it weren't for it being high tide.

Traditionally there has been a barbeque  both Saturday and Sunday evening.  Here a number of campers cook there evening meal in the nice evening sun.

Could this be where Monty Python got the inspiration for the Australian wine sketch - "A bouquet like a cyclist foot".  When lightweight camping, items double up with other uses.  Here a cycle shoe is being used as a bottle wine holder.
