Makers of good quality
lightweight tents, used by many within the Tandem Club. |
|
Mountain Safety Research (MSR)
makers of good liquid fuel stoves, ideal for lightweight camping, but not for
the faint hearted. Whisperlite stove
very good for petrol, and the Dragon Fly great for most fuels you can buy on
tour with the added bonus of flame control.
As these use liquid fuels, they are cheap to run providing you avoid
white gas (Colman Fuel - £14 per litre against 90p per for unleaded petrol!) |

Ceri’s first “big school”. She left there in July 2000 at the end of year 5. |

Shepshed High School | They change skools after year 5 in Shepshed, this is where Ceri was until end of year 9, July 2004. |
Current Shepshed Weather | Shepshed is home to Campbell Scientific who make Automatic Weather Stations. They have one connected to the web, reporting the weather real time (hourly) and up to the last 24 hours. This will explain why Shepshed has been reported a number of times for weather extremities such as heavy rain and high temp, eg in June 2003, see BBC summary report for June 2003. In addition they have a webcam which shows the view outside their offices. Not the best view, but at night there are far too many lights - the Shepshed Curfew Police will have a field day. |
A very good US based website that gives current weather conditions and forecasts for many places throughout the world. The link to the right will take you to the weather report for nearby East Midlands Airport. It is very good to see how cold it is in Winnipeg to see how true the reason why Granddad Fuller came back to the UK. One handy thing about the site is the link to local weather stations to get current and historic weather conditions. The site is so good, it was used at works by somebody who emigrated to New Zealand to decide on what part of NZ he wanted to live and then to monitor the weather whilst preparing to go. From a work point of view it is good see to check the weather in St Paul, 3M's HQ, they say it is cold but compared with Winnipeg it is hot there! | |
