On our route from Springendal to Lochem, we followed for most of the way the Twentekanaal. This is a large canal which is used for a significant amount of commercial traffic. On our easy day at lochem we rode into Zutphen and upon our return we followed the canal back to Lochem. İStephen Dee 6 Aug 2002 ID P8060118 |

You get a good idea of the size of the Twentekanaal and the boats that use it, by the barge Saturnus which is in the guillotine lock just to the north of Zutphen. Note the car on the cabin. İStephen Dee 6 Aug 2002 ID P8060115 |
