Shepshed is twinned with Domont in the Val D'oise - Ile de France, to the north of Paris adjacent to Route Nationale 1.  An event which had been 3 years in organising was a cycle tour from Domont to Shepshed, by L'Union Cyclotouriste Domontoise (UC Domont).   After arriving in Shepshed on the Friday, and a leisurely ride round the local lanes on the Saturday it was time to relax playing skittles before heading off home on the Sunday morning.

Saturday night's entertainment was a game of skittles in the skittle alley at The Three Crowns in Hathern.  It is a bit like boules but with wooden rough shaped cheese's (fromage - but not the sort you eat!) and .......

9 wooden skittles.  A cheese is seen on the left.

There was much celebration when one of our visitors knocked all 9 skittles down.

After we completed a game, we were then told we had not thrown our cheeses from the correct spot - a foot sized depression in the floor at the opposite end to the skittles.  So it was play it again.....

A sausage, faggot, and mushy pea supper was provided.

Which was eaten either on one's lap or at tables.

Some of the bikes were protected by pipe insulation for the journey back.

Some members of the UC Domont travelled up in a car with a trailer which carried the cyclists' luggage during the day.  The others travelled back by coach.

Now how much will it cost to post that back to Domont?  Some cyclists packed their cycles in SNCF bike boxes.

Now how did I get all these bags on my bike?

Packing the bikes in the luggage compartment required some crawling around the inside of the luggage compartment.

As can be seen the space was limited in the luggage compartment.

A retired Shepshed Postman examines the parcel and thinks how will I post that through the letterbox, I hope somebody will be in when I deliver this?

Now I wonder if this wheel will fit my bike?
