The Ride Out International Tandem Rally 2005 The Ride Back

Our first garden site as at Viby J, a suburb of Ǻrhus, number 229.  We found the general location and asked a few locals for directions - they could not help, so we asked in the local pizza place.  They got  out their map and we were a bout a Km from the site.  The house looked new and the grass bare.

The impression of newness was re-enforced by the building work on a toilet block.  The entry in the guide confirmed that the site is established as did the neighbours who were used to campers turning up!  The day we turned up - was a critical stage of work - the block had no electricity and no lights, shower and wash basins were not connected, the only thing that worked was the toilet!

Our tents in the garden.  The grass was a bit bare and very stony.

Our next garden site was when we returned to Jylland and stayed at site 457 at Blans Ballebro, which overlooked Als Fjord.

The house was approached via this nice avenue of trees.  This is the view looking away from the house.

Our tents were pitched at the back of the main house in the garden.

The garden overlooked Als Fjord, although the weather when arrived dampened the view a bit..

A nice shelter was provided along with washing lines and picnic table which we found very useful.

The toilet facilities were provided in the granny annex which housed at least Granddad, who I bumped into!.

Our most "Interesting" garden site was site 429 in Skærbræk.

One problem is the garden backed on to the railway line from Esbjerg to Tønder.  An hourly train service with the bells for the crossing starting at 5am and the last train about midnight.  The garden is behind the trees.....

Despite being a garden site in the middle of Skærbræk, the toilet provided for campers, was an earth closet at the end of the garden overlooking the railway. It gives the true meaning to "outside toilet"!  However the toilet was actually nice and private.

Our last campsite, site 413, Jedsted, just north of Ribe, was a garden site.  As we had arrived in the rain and Ceri-Siân's tent was dry, she decided to share my tent so we only put the one up.  Between the house and the lawn area for tents is a nice vegetable garden.  A toilet and shower was provided in the main house with  access directly to the garden.

There was a nice greenhouse conservatory which we could use as the evening was wet.
