The Ride Out International Tandem Rally 2005 The Ride Back

Danmark's population is thinly spread.  The first farm site we camped at, number 736, Sundby on Falster, was easy to find.  It had a simple address, Sundbyvej 6.  We knew it was in Sundby so we headed to the village, found the street and worked out which way the house numbers went.  Then we followed the road out of the village for about 3 Km before we came to No 6.  The gaps between houses were large.

We arrived in the dry, but it started to rain soon after, and left in the rain and hence the site did not really appeal.  However that was  more an effect of the weather.  The site had a shelter - a barn which had a picnic table in it.  We weren't sure about the electric light, the electrics looked rather dubious, so we didn't attempt it.  The barn was very useful in the morning when we were packing things away..

The sign on the barn door.  It suggest that you could sleep in it - but I am not sure what other residences there were!  At least outside you had plenty of company from Danmark's main population species - slugs!

There were two pitching areas at the site.  The lady you welcomed us was a frail old lady who could not speak English and she pointed to this area for us to camp, so we pitched the one tent at Ceri-Siân's suggestion.

The farm site we used on Ærø, site 556, Marstal Bugt, I considered to be more of a commercial site, we were charged 20 DKr a night each, not the 15 DKr max described within the guide.  The white building is where the toilets, showers and water tap are.

.The drive between the camp field and the toilets.  Not an ideal route when you live in sandals to go and wash one's feet!.

The toilet bock - full of notices regarding how to behave!  In addition to toilets and showers there was a picnic table inside - but you weren't allowed to cook.  Containers were provided to recycle rubbish - but heaven help anybody who dared to put their rubbish in the wrong place.

The notice on the door that gives a feel of the atmosphere on the site.  The landlady was continuously making herself busy checking everything was in order.   She was an expat English lady.

Our third farm site we stayed at was Grøngård Mark near Tønder in Jylland, number 481.  The farmer greeted us in English pointing out the site was across the road and had a primitive toilet and there was a comfortable toilet in the house.
